What is a Manufacturer Identification (MID) code?: The MID is a U.S. CBP identifier constructed from the manufacturer’s country, name, address number and city. It’s used on U.S. import entries to identify the manufacturer/shipper.
How does this generator build the MID?: We follow CBP rules: ISO 2-letter country code; the first three letters of the first two significant words from the manufacturer name (excluding company suffixes like PVT, LTD, INC, CORP, LLC); the largest number from the address (first four digits); and the first three letters of the city.
